Is it only me or do you guys think this song could be on a Lorde album? It's quite dark and the production sounds so weird and fresh, I can see her influence on Taylor's music.
Instrumentals are quite nice. Wish her vocals were as powerful as the production. Could have been an epic song had the vocal range not been limited to one octave. A solid belt, especially in a power bridge, would have given a nice texture to the otherwise monotonous canvas.
ya her voice doesn't match with how jarring and industrial the production is. Also, repeating 'are we out of the woods' a bunch of times does not a good chorus make. SIO > this.
Wish the chorus wasn't that repetitive but it still slays
some of my friends went all "I miss her guitar and acoustic" and I'm like enjoy this glorious music guys
i really love OOTW. as a whole, it is a better song (lyrics, production, melody, depth, quality, etc.) than SIO; however, SIO is still obviously catchier and better for radio. i think that will be the balance of the album:
martin and shellback will have the half that is quality, but pop, music meant for radio. different for HER, but no innovation really.
then the other half consisting of tedder, antonoff, the one by chapman and the one by imogen, will be the deeper, maybe more artistic and innovative ones not necessarily meant for pop radio.
