I somewhat agree. On one hand, pop girls use raunchiness as a way to get $$$, but the appeal about Rihanna's whole image and artistry is the "IDGAF" attitude.

Melanie C has the most solo success with her music than any of them. She also made better music and is the only one other than Emma who can sing well.

She specifically said that Rihanna isn't the only one who does it. She mentioned Rihanna because her daughter likes her.

Being sexual or promiscuous doesn't necessarily equate to being sexually empowered. Plenty of people who exploit their sexuality are insecure and suffer from low self-esteem.

I mean, Rihanna IS a mature artist with mature videos and sings lyrics dealing with mature topics. Some of her music is more child appropriate and you have to realize that she's got a 5 year old, not a 15 year old.
As for the comment on "raunchyness," we're dealing with a member of THE SPICE GIRLS. The living, breathing, human embodiments of Girl Power. Of course she believes that society should love Rihanna for her talent before her beauty/sexuality, its really part of the whole feminism issue. Rihanna shouldn't have to take her clothes of to be appreciated, but, what if she wants to?

That's gross. Why would you not want to be a role model? There's nothing intrinsically wrong about being sexy and showing off skin, but it does send the message that that is all women are good for. If you're gonna be famous and live a blessed life it wouldn't kill to do it with taste.

Granted Rihanna music is too mature for a 5 yr old lets not act like songs/ videos like don't exist: Diamonds, What Now, Unfaithful, Take a bow, DSTM, SOS, PDR, Disturbia, Umbrella, HTILY, etc (where Rih is not being overtly sexual)

& Sure Rih image might be too raunchy for some but just like Mel C was entitled to her opinion Rihanna as a 26yr old grown woman is entitled to express herself and live her life how she pleases.
