Maybe it had more to do with who was able to actually pay for the treatment but those five dont have the virus anymore
This proves there is a cure that was obviously lied about

Or maybe it has moreso to do with the treatment they received to which we don't have all the details. For example, Thomas Duncan received the same experimental treatment that the NBC cameraman is receiving. The NBC cameraman is improving, but Duncan died. Duncan was sent home after having a 103 fever and was hospitalized 2 days later. He received treatment at Texas Health Presbyterian, an unranked local hospital. Mupko (as well as another one of the pts) received treatment by the University of Nebraska Medical Center/Nebraska Medical Center which are nationally ranked hospitals. The first two patients received treatment at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta which is also a nationally ranked, renown hospital. Notice how neither the NMC and EUH had no outbreaks, but the one local hospital already has another reported case in a HCP?
Brantly and Writebol (the first two patients) received zMapp which isn't the same thing as brincidofovir which is what Duncan and Mupko received.
The five people that recovered received treatment at nationally ranked, prestigious hospitals. The one person who died did not. That hospital sent him home after exhibiting a 103 fever and after he explicitly stated that he had recently visited Western Africa. Clearly the quality of healthcare differs.
