Finally, Britain is giving her some recognition. In past years, people like 50 Cent, Keane, The Bravery, Mika and Adele have all won the BBC Sound of the Year award. The award ceremony takes place every January and they award a new talent on how they think they'll fair in the following year. This year Lady Gaga has been nominated along with people such as Empire Of The Sun, VV Brown, Florence & The Machine and Kid Cudi to name but a few. The winner is usually someone who has the biggest hit in January. And I'd say the biggest competetors for the prize are Lady Gaga & Florence & The Machine. Florence who has already claimed a hit "Kiss With A Fist", has now moved onto "Dog Days Over" which is already hitting it big at radio. Lady Gaga looks set to be the winner. I'm so happy for her!

Keane have three #1 UK albums, and Hope And Fears was named as the 16th Biggest Selling Album of the Millenium of all time. 50 Cent reached a new peak, when "Ayo Technology" became his biggest hit of all time in the UK. Adele is still trying to crack America. Mika is currently still recording his second album, he also 4 top 10 hits to his name in the UK. And 3 top 10's in Australia. Also Relax, Take It Easy was one of the biggest hits in Europe last year. So they are all doing fairly well still

I agree. But the more mainstream artists always win this award, so it's more than likely she'll win. But as I said, Florence & The Machine is tough competition too.

Sadly; considering Florence & The Machine won the ''Critics Choice'' award for the 2009 Brit Awards, I think she will get it.
I really can't see her reaching the heights of success as; Duffy or Adele somehow.

no i just looked it up and its this.i realy hope she wins,because the impact of this will be huge.if Adele didnt win this last year she would of flopped.i remember in January Mercy & Chasing Pavements were both being whoared on radio just because they came 1st & 2nd on this.but JD will be huge anyway.
