How disappointing. She'll get there eventually, though. It took Donna Summer forever but they finally had to give in and recognize her excellence. The Hall voters are so sexist.

Kate Bush is the real shocker, though. What a groundbreaking figure in alternative rock. She's been eligible for a decade and still can't get no respect.

I love love love me some Janet, but I also know when to recognize that my favorite isn't doing so hot. Nothing she released post-Super Bowl was very good. She had some hot moments here and there (All Nite, Feedback), but nothing that could hold a candle to her triumphant run up to that point. She seemed to lose her focus on talking about real issues and focused more on sex songs and more sex songs. She's always had a few on each of her albums, but it started to become too much with the later eras. Especially after the Super Bowl, it came across to the GP as trashy.

That being said, it shouldn't tarnish her image as the gold standard of female pop. There are loads of artists in the Hall of Fame that had careers shorter than Janet's insane run at the top of the charts and released a fraction of her classics that are still imitated today.

If it took a music pioneer like Donna Summers for ever (and after the fact she passed away) to get into the Rock n Roll hall of fame. It's going to take much longer for Janet. Hell the next generation of inductees are coming up.
