Baby, she's a firework! Page Six reports a deal is being negotiated for Katy Perry to perform at the Super Bowl XLIX halftime show on Feb. 1, and Variety and Billboard have confirmed the report.
It was rumored that she was up for the gig, along with Coldplay and Rihanna. But the pop star, who has a whopping 55 million Twitter followers, has proven that she was no dark horse. And maybe THAT's why she had such a football-infused weekend, appearing on ESPN's College Game Day while cheering on Ole Miss.
And no, she's not paying her way to the stage, as was rumored to be the NFL's plan this year. "I'm not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl," Perry told ESPN. We look forward to seeing more of this.
Obviously she didnt pay. WTF is wrong with people. As if she doesnt deserve, she will bring ratings high & people love her & has tons of fans & a great label/team/sponsorship behind her. Whats so SHOCKING. 0_0
Obviously not, that would be a massive waste of money for any record label. Unless you're Adele you're never gonna make a profit off of having to spend millions to perform. If it only cost 1 million you'd need to sell 4 million singles or 400k albums the week after for it to make a profit, not including costs of setting up the stage etc.
That quote is from last week, no? Obviously halftime is something that has to negotiated for a long time, it's not like she just nabbed it last night right before the announcement. She has probably already been in talks for weeks already, so she was obviously being coy when she said that.
