Why should he wait? His first album was released in March and went gold. If it flops it will be only if his label/team don't do the promo properly. The way Wait For You was promoted was AMAZING and whatever his first single from this new album is, will hopefully get the same treatment.
You also have to remember that he is on an indie label, so the expectations for him are not as high or stringent. 200-300k for example is not flopping at ALL for an indie artist, and I think he could certainly sell that much.
Hopefully he will also get a chance to perform on AI as well, the show really seems to like him (had him on three times) and that definitely helped the first album.
