As usual most of the people here downgrading Katy (and her live performances)... Well, she will still perform at the halftime show regardless of your opinion... and you will deal. Your fave can still perform in Japan though because last time I checked, Superbowl is in the USA and your fave is fading in the Americas.

We don't know the details as yet, so stop jumping to a conclusion that Katy indeed paid to play. Because she was very vocal about refusing to pay. Maybe they were able to work something out behind the scenes like getting the sponsor, Pepsi to pay the fee or even her label, Capitol.
Now touring is not the angle you wanna come at Katy for currently. Sure, she's not playing stadiums, but she's set to outgross those playing stadiums. Says a lot.
