Beyond this, I am not arguming the fact he got breast reduction, I am arguing the fact that it is a disease, and diseases sometimes come back. Let me reword your argument; If I get the cancer cut out, do you think it just "grows" back?

I understand where you're going, but what you don't realize about cancer is that it's caused by abnormal cell growth. If you remove those cells, you die. That's why you can't "cure" cancer just by removing malignant tumors and growths; you have to leave cancerous cells in your body or else you'd completely die.
In the case of gynecomastia, it involves a problem with the endocrine system (i.e. hormones). The reason mild cases of gynecomastia disappear with diet/exercise is because not all gynecomastia is chronic (it can be effective only during puberty and some is even only caused by certain medications, hence those commercials on television all the time about gynecomastia).
In the case of chronic gynecomastia, surgery is only done after the gynecomastia is treated and the individual is out of puberty. That way, the breasts will not redevelop.
