Ariana: It's been out for a long time (just over 3 months) and I thought it was sitting above 2 million units considering the initial promotion and its solid performance on radio. I guess it's never really been a big smash and has kind of just 'been there', doing average numbers but not making a real splash.
Nicki: It had a few decent sales weeks when the video dropped but it's sitting at #25 on iTunes, struggling on pop radio and has yet to pass a million units. Considering the virality of the video, I thought the sales would be much larger, but I guess it's more a "Harlem Shake" viral hit than a "Gangnam Style" viral hit.
Although this is my own opinion. Maybe I just expected too much.
