Greek Sikhs Face Multiple Racist Attacks
MARATHON, Greece —Two Gurdwaras in Greece were attacked this pas Sunday. The attack took place in the early morning hours of Amrit Vela around 3:30am. Local sevadars were showering and getting ready for the weekly program when they heard loud gunshots and windows breaking.
The shocking part about this incident is that two separate Gurdwaras were attacked, both in Greece, and both in the early morning hours of Amrit Vela. The first Gurdwara that was attacked was Sri Dasmesh Singh Sabha around 3:30am and the second Gurdwara was Bhagat Ravidas Ji Gurdwara around 3:45am. Both of the Gurdwaras were severely damaged as windows and doors were shot up and broken.
“I was just finishing up taking a shower when I heard loud gun shots and windows breaking. I quickly made my way upstairs to see what was happening and all I saw were broken glass windows and bullet marks on the walls,” said the head Granthi of Sri Dasmesh Singh Sabha.
This is the second time in two years that Sri Dasmesh Singh Sabha Gurdwara was attacked and the people who had attacked the Gurdwara previously were never found. The cameras around the Gurdwara weren’t able to catch the criminals but local law enforcement are investigating and trying to figure out who attacked this time.
Some Local Sangat members say that they are scared to come to the Gurdwara now as this is the second time the Gurdwara has been attacked and they feel the police aren’t taking this case seriously.
I wouldn't be surprised if it happens every day for them. Sikh men who wrap their hair in cloth are always attacked or harassed for being "Muslim" and there's little media coverage on it.
Change the title to "Muslims attack a temple" and you'll see all the ignorant people swarming up in here.
Or "gays attacked"... positive news about gay rights won't work because no one cares. My thread about an Indian Music Video to support gay rights was a huge flop.
