One would think that financial impact would be secondary to the life of a pet that may not have any reason to die at all.

As terrible as it sounds, I'd have no problem with the dog being sacrificed if it actually stopped ebola from spreading (or at least slowed it down a little). However, as Retro said, they should at least test it beforehand.

Honestly I don't think it had anything to do with him being a priest or not. Our government just wanted to do the absolute most by bringing him here and try to show the other countries that we are capable of handling these things. I mean he even got the experimental medicine avoiding all protocols and he was a really old man (75 years old) with Ebola, like what did they expect? They wasted all those resources to let the man die here and look what's happened. Resources should have been sent there instead but oh well...

That's stupid, the lady could've gotten infected by being in contact with the already ill patient so why kill the dog when he may not be the one carrying the virus?

The government could've thought better when they had the brilliant idea of get the priest sick out of Africa if they weren't ready to avoid more infections.

It's really difficult to test for Ebola in its early stages because the symptoms are pretty generic (fever, muscle pain)- so while the dog is still waiting to get tested/diagnosed it's gonna be drooling/licking/playing with people, which is way more of a risk than needs to be taken as it's a really quick way of spreading bodily fluids.

This is terrifying though- there's a ridiculous amount of UK-Spain, UK-Nigeria, UK-Commonwealth Africa in general flights. It's only a matter of time before it gets to my doorstep.
