No. It was because the hype and pull of the series has dicipated. Especially after the constant decline in quality the series took. The latest movie was positively received by critics though. They went back to the original straight-up horror route. But even if it was released to theaters, it wouldn't pull in big numbers. The series is overdone. Maybe if they wait 20 years and bring it back.

There really is nothing innovative about it. Possessed dolls have been a staple in horror long before Chucky. He is iconic though. And
Annabelle came in 2nd to one of the most anticipated films of the year, and only by a few millions. It exceeded expectations. The fact that it is apart of the critically acclaimed series of
The Conjuring is the reason why it is grossing so much. If they were to crossover with Chucky it would make little to no sense, and only harm the series. They are on a roll. No need to mess that up trying to help a has-been.
