the term itself simply entails that someone advocates for gender equality, but because the world is so huge and there is no one "woman's experience," you have a lot of different ideologies

I say it has more to do with her being seen as powerful as well as being a black woman who talks so openly about sex. People get intimidated real quick.
This is true. Considering feminism is something of a joke to the vast majority of society, it's cool how a star of Bey's stature with as much widespread respect as Bey so proudly wears the cause on her sleeve. Her idea of what feminism entails is a bit misguided at times, but ultimately she's doing good.
I agree. The "eat the cake" line in DIL shouldn't negate all the other references to feminism that she sings about.
That was my experience too. You're as confused as she is and on the journey with her. But the first time I watched it I didn't realize it's a dark comedy
Exactly. Her panic towards the end is really quite a brutal watch when her escape attempts (even though she is outside ) keep failing. Mia her power.
