Phoenix is a horrible city, sorry. The city centre is dead outside of work hours and is 80% at grade car parks, the fact you need a car to get just about
everywhere. It is by no means a pretty city, the sprawl goes on for what seems like forever, and it is excruciatingly hot etc.
I would rather deal with hurricanes and wildfires than live somewhere like Phoenix.
