I think it's cool to have your primary avi as a picture of yourself, it adds a bit of accountability to users and stops some of the offensive trolling. I had mine there for years.

But at the same time the allure of this place for some is that they create characters that aren't quite like themselves.
I don't mind showing my face though. Just here for discussion and music and to get to know a few cool members in the process.

1. I'm not comfortable enough to use my actual face as an avi. I barely like doing on other social media sites, and I don't upload photos on there cause I hate my appearance (I'm so insecure )

2. If someone called a pop girl ugly and they had their actual face up and they didn't look any better, the lashings would be unbearable.

3. It's not like Facebook/Twitter/Instagram where most people socialize with people they know or comfortable with.

4. People may steal pictures.

I post honest opinions and very personal thoughts on here. I wouldn't want my unfiltered thoughts being connected to myself irl. There's a chance, in the future, that I may encounter someone who is out to expose me and I don't want to give them an opportunity to do so. Also I'm sure I'll be embarrassed of the things I post here when I'm older. I still cringe at my 12 year old self after viewing my old posts on facebook.
