Welcome once again to the Pitchfork Guide to Upcoming Releases, our seasonal guide to new music. Four times a year, we round up a list of albums, singles, EPs, and DVDs arriving over the coming months. Maybe you'll, y'know, go out and buy records. (Don't you miss that new CD smell?) This installment covers fall 2014.
Jessie Ware: Tough Love (October 7, PMR/Island)
Jessie Ware's Devotion follow-up has her collaborating with Miguel, Ed Sheeran, Arctic Monkeys producer James Ford, "Hold on We're Going Home" co-producer Nineteen85, and more. Read our interview with Ware.
Weezer: Everything Will Be Alright in the End (October 7, Republic)
Rivers Cuomo and the gang are back (to the shack) with a new full-length that has them collaborating with Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino on the song "Go Away". It was produced Ric Ocasek of the Cars, who worked with the band on the Blue Album and the Green Album.
Ariel Pink: pom pom (November 18, 4AD)
Ariel Pink's new double LP—sans Haunted Graffiti (though apparently far from a "solo" record)—features the single "Put Your Number in My Phone" and collaborations with rock'n'roll huckster extraordinaire Kim Fowley. Read our interview with Ariel.
Nicki Minaj: The Pinkprint (November 24, Young Money Entertainment/Cash Money/Republic)
Nicki Minaj is ready to unleash her Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded follow-up. While a tracklist hasn't surfaced yet, she's delivered several potential candidates for the album: "Pills N Potions", "Yasss Bish!", "Chi-Raq", and of course, "Anaconda".
Charli XCX: Sucker (December 16, Neon Gold/Atlantic)
Charli XCX's new album was pushed back from its originally-announced October 21 release date. Why? Because her song "Boom Clap" kept lingering on the charts and she wanted to "launch the album properly". Sucker also comes after Charli found massive success this year with Iggy Azalea's "Fancy".
Pitchfork loves Taylor. They just aren't allowed to mention the biggest pop star in the world directly.
I know a lot of the staff does. But that guy who decides, does not. Good sis thediscomonkey spilled that tea some time ago. This is why there has never been reviews about ha albums.
She has the most BNM's (Best New Music) out of a lot of the girls.
I searched her name and I see.
The Pitchfork hates Taylor (for what reason idk like above probably because he's a Kanye stan). But half the staff of P4k had Red on their year end bests. The transparency is kind of transparent.
