So basically people care about viewing/editing these people's wikipedia pages the most. They inferred from that that the GP is more obsessed over these people than others. The methodology is pretty smart, actually.
The only thing you can really question here is whether the most edited/viewed pages is an indicator of how much the population "obsesses" over the person. You can never know 100% but it's an intelligent, statistically appropriate way to approach the topic which doesn't leave much room for bias from the writer's POV. It's a cute article.
