Are they overrated?

Times Higher Education just released their list, and I see:

54 Brown University United States
152 Dartmouth College United States

Why aren't they at the top? Or are they good, except other schools are even better?

They definitely are. They are great schools but there are some international schools much better and half the price tbh.

It's always good to go to a school of that caliber but meh .

Everybody knows that Princeton is the best university in the country.

EDIT: Wait, I opened the link and saw a few Ivy League schools in the top ten... You must not know which ones are a part of the Ivy League.

They are good...it depends on the program tho...as with any school.

UPENN is a great school. Those people probably had high test scores good grades and volunteered to even be considered.

Though I'd say that there are a bunch of public universities that are just as good, if not better than most of them.

They are great schools that anyone would be lucky to attend...but they aren't worth the amount of money and resources they ask for. You can find just as valuable and worthwhile of an education (if not the same number of built in connections) at a number of public universities. It's all in how you utilize and realize the resources at your disposal, not necessarily the cache of your school name.

I'm at Stanford, not an ivy league, but pretty close in terms of academic caliber! and i love my school

The thing about the Ivy League people often forget (and many outside of the US don't even realize) is that it's an athletic conference, not the list of the best schools in the country/world.

It just happens to be one where all the members are great schools. They're not all at the top, since there are schools just as good all around the country/world, but they're all still way above average.

I go to IUPUI (combination of Purdue and Indiana in Indianapolis). I'm majoring in computer science, so I'm a Purdue student. And it's #102! :woo party:

Apparently lots of people think that Purdue is Ivy League. Slaying a bit tbh.

Idk if i would say "overrated." I think their appeal nowadays has more to do with alumni connections and the simple prestige, not academic quality. You can get an amazing education at plenty of places in the US, let alone around the world.
