I agree that reverting back to The Fame would be dumb, but I don't think anyone who's still a part of the fanbase wants that. Artpop is not really an evolution though, it's mostly a re-hash of The Fame's style of music, with slightly more current (but still dated) production.

I think Cheek to Cheek is a real evolution and the most exciting she's been in years. And her next solo album should be even better.
