Who is/are the Queen('s) of Longevity?
We always argue about current success but fail to look back at who is improving or resisting decline when so many new pop stars are emerging (Ariana, Iggy, Charli etc). Taking all factors (Single Sales, Streaming/Youtube, Album Sales, Touring and Relevance in general) who has displayed consistency the best? You can vote for multiple people.
(not in order)
1) Katy Perry: Started off with a huge hit, but lacked strong album sales. Although her album sales improved for her next era, her single sales were far more impressive making her seem like a singles artist. Also, her tour grossed $60M despite having over 100+ shows. With PRISM, she's proven she can keep selling albums during the album sales declining stage but her singles are no longer shooting up to the top of the charts like they used to. Her touring has improved dramatically though.
2) Rihanna: One of the biggest pop stars to emerge. Started off steady and continued to rise and improve with every album until Loud (excluding Rated R). Her current hits are bigger than most of her old hits and her album sales have been pretty consistent but similar to Katy, she hasn't been getting as much hits as she used to despite 5-6 singles being released each era.
3) Beyonce: Arguably the biggest pop star right now with her impressive album sales opening, thanks to smart decisions (having a tour before an album, dropping an album with no announcement shocking fans, no leaks). Her tours keep getting better, album sales have been pretty damn impressive considering the decline in sales. However, most of her headlines are due to negative press (Lipsyncing, Surrogacy rumors, Solange). Despite not having a Top 10 hit since forever, she proved everyone wrong with Drunk in Love
4) Taylor Swift: Blows everyone out of the water when it comes to the US, but worldwide her numbers are less than stellar. her opening weeks for singles AND albums make our other favs look like amateurs, and her songs don't immediately drop off the charts. With her current transition in pop, she still seems to have most of her fan base intact. Tours keep improving.
5) Nicki Minaj: Is very up and down, she's either a huge hit (Super Bass, Anaconda, Starships) or a complete miss (The Boys, Freedom, Right by My side). Although some people thought after PF:RR and Iggy Azalea, Nicki would not be relevant anymore, Anaconda surpassed Miley's record and has sold an impressive amount of numbers. Album sales declining but we'll see with the Pink Print
6)Lady Gaga: Was the biggest thing that impacted pop culture in 2009-2010, everyone knew he or of her. Her sales have declined heavily but let's not forget she was massive, it's hard to maintain that amount of success. Touring seems to have declined but we'll see the final numbers. But despite all this she can still make headlines for so much as walking out of her hotel.
7) Britney Spears: Her career is longer than all of the people above, her impact and sales are leaps and bound above as well. her singles haven't been as successful as her albums, mostly in the US. Touring wise she's not ahead of the pact as most would have expected. Most have outgrossed her tours. Her headlines have also seemed to have suffered for the past few years.

Beyoncé & Rihanna are the only 2 that have enjoyed consistent success for 9+ years straight.

Norah Jones, I just checked today and Come Away With Me is still in the top 200 albums WW (at least according to Kworb's site). Now that's a queen.
From the options, Taylor & Bey > Rihanna > the rest

Longevity is just how long a person lasted before becoming irrelevant. This question can easily be answered by looking at when they debuted and when was the last time they had a major era. The answer is clearly Britney and Beyonce since they are the only two to have success for over a decade. Rihanna is only off by one year so she would be 3rd. The others haven't proven their longevity yet since they haven't reached the decade milestone.

Taylor Swift debuted 8 years ago and has only grown since then in various facets of her career (opening numbers, touring, singles, etc.) and 1989 is shaping up to be another big era. She has obviously proved her longevity already.
