And the voters shouldn't just go with what a handful of critics know of and just ignore what the public supported throughout the year. The general field should be a mix of albums that are acclaimed and ones that have been embraced commercially. That's a better balance.

It would be interesting if some of the general fields had over five nominees for a better mix between acclaimed and commercial, similar to the Oscars for Best Picture. That's plenty of room for the diversity that Album of the Year tries to represent, and it's not like a few extra hours of listening wouldn't hurt the voters.

Hoping for that Beyonce win!
