I don't think the girls would ditch him from being sober. He must've resigned but still want to take the money his productions made from the group. Which would leave the girls with very little. And he probably doesn't want to split it equally.
It happens a lot when bands lose a member, who was a significant part of the group.

Regardless of whether he resigned or was kicked out, one third of that band's money is rightfully HIS (tbh it should be more considering, his productions are what made their album good. Save for a few tracks, Krewella's songwriting is always hit or miss, but their production is always top notch). Where do you get the idea he doesn't want to split it equally? If anything, all rumors point to the idea that the girls didn't want to split it equally anymore.
Tbh, I would have been upset if my bandmates criticized me after I had just gotten out of rehab for alcoholism too.
Like what kind of terrible friends? He should sue them for all they have and then begin his solo act. He'll be perfectly fine, he's already proven himself in the EDM scene.
