To say that we should not be criticizing women no matter HOW they dress and behave implies that there is nothing wrong with any way of dressing and behaving. That is not the case. There are plenty of wrong ways to dress and behave.

It's true that dressing skimpy is not what feminism is all about,but,neither is chopping ones hair,dressing and behaving like a man or covering ones self up what feminism is all about.
There are different schools of thought on feminism,but they all have one common denominator,which is the liberation of women,and I believe that Beyonce has done her bit to help that cause,it's quite unfortunate that people like you have decided to judge her based on her stage and video attire.

I don't really see why this is a big deal.... Bey is my fave and Emma is an actress I admire greatly. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and nobody is being shamed here. It's all about perspective.

So, you are not a feminist, that's why you and the other Hive Members are allowed to bash on Emma like that? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even a "feminist". Men tell each other what they think all the time. It's pretty conservative (or even anti-feminist) to forbid a female to speak her mind. Girls have been raised like that for ages. That's where all the bitching and back-stabbing among females originates. Being a feminist is not about being all sweet and nice 24/7. Being a feminist means being a political human being, having opinions and not being afraid to address issues in public (like Emma did here, in a very classy and respectful manner).

Also I agree with slimsexy when it comes to mode of dressing. You criticize woman for wearing sexy feminine clothes with exuse of it beeing all for men and objectifying oneself but the same people have nothing to say about women who dress like a man and cut their hair short to make them look more "manly" when it's compromising with social understanding that male>female.

I never said that if a person chooses not to share their sexuality with the world that they are prudes. The prudes are the people who speak out against the people who are comfortable with sharing it. They are the ones judging and bemoaning over something very natural. Sexuality was never meant to be private. Sexuality was meant for reproduction, in whatever way or form. It was only humans (the prudish ones) who have decided that sex must be behind locked doors. If that is what you believe in, no one is stopping you from doing that. But don't stop others from doing the opposite. That's entirely unfair.

You need to learn what feminism if you think it's a bad concept. You're basically admitting you think that men should be above women in all ways (socially, politically, economically). Is that what you think? If not, then you are a feminist. Welcome!

If Beyoncé was just using issues for promotion and not ones that she felt personally close to, wouldn't she have more than just a feminist mantra in her work? Wouldn't she be flip flopping every album or song to a new topic to use as promotion, as we see the flip-flopping of personas per era to generate buzz and create marketability? Beyoncé has been strongly feminist since the late 1990s. It's possible this is just a tool of promotion, but at least she's consistent and she's definitely opened the doors to feminism to so many people, I'm not sure that her "use" of it should even be considered a bad thing.
