Not even radio backlash or corrupt, sassy djs can stop TIWHD from being a global hit.
When will Birthday?

my predictions

TIHWD is officially over. We will remember its unrealized potential, the way it successfully performed CPR on a dying era, and in all future stan fights it can be used to counter the payola argument.
TIHWD made PRISM's heart beat again, and now it's time for LL to restore it to consciousness.

over? watch it go Top 25 again next week...and the one after that...

Of course I know ATRL is not indicative of what will smash and either way I think both LL and WOA deserve to be singles.
And I agree with singles not being for pleasing fans, that's why I'm against ITT being a single.

here is the biggest poll and WOA is winning by 123 votes
not to mention that Katy follows that user

It Takes Two will become the biggest flop of Katy's career, and Walking On Air will enter top 10 but won't go #1,
Anyway, we already got 2 singles like WOA, it's time for LL, a new style, fall

I know I've said this more times than I can count, but coming from a non-stan's perspective, Legendary Lovers should be the next single. The only thing I think they should change, or at least add to, is the tribal beat bridge. That's a turn off even for myself. It's just kind of there, adds very little to the song, and doesn't really fit well in my opinion.

But why would they change something about a song that's already made? Just doesn't make sense. Unless they feature a rapper for the bridge.
Either way, I really agree Legendary Lovers would be a nice single.

Oh I mean for like a radio edit and/or a remix. Perhaps feature either a new vocalist or just some new vocals from Katy herself. Just add or change something. It's just a little bland and kind of a boring spot in what is otherwise an outstanding song and, in my opinion, a highlight of both Prism and Katy's overall discography.

Officially team WOA. I love "Legendary Lovers," and I get why other people do, but after spending time trying and failing to make it more mainstream friendly, I feel the impending third mid-hit in my gut. Simply put, with casual fans/non-fans, "Walking On Air" is either "amazing" or "a great ode to the early 90s," while "Legendary Lovers" is either "amazing" or "no." Singles aren't about pleasing fans, they're about selling albums (or singles, at this point).
Even though "Legendary Lovers" is a gillion times better than this song, I just don't think it's going to click with enough people when they hear it on the radio as is or with minor tweaks. I'll happily eat my words, but I thought this and "Unconditionally" were doomed from the start.
I'd be fine with "It Takes Two," also. It's a bit late to be jumping on the fun. bandwagon, but if it's what they compromise on, I think it'd be an easy radio hit.
|
OMG. Back-off people! The true and underrated hit is coming to slay lives! I will be the happiest Katy Perry stan if It Takes Two will see the light of the day. It's my instant fave on the album since the snippets were released. Please be true... please be true... please be true!
And to thos who're doubting ITT's power can sit at the backseat and watch it fly up to the charts!

I swear if Legendary Lovers (or a Legendary Lesbians Rihmix) isn't the next single I'm going to absolutely lose it. It has an unique sound and amazing music video potential
WOA is cute but Summer is over. Let it be an album gem

- Unconditionally: 64,000 + 53,000 + 52,000 + 53,000 + 55,000 + 65,000 + 55,000 + 48,000 + 55,000 + 161,000 + 80,000 + 52,000 + 42,000 + 36,000 + 30,000 + 24,000 + 26,000 + 21,000 + 17,000 + 15,000 + 13,000 + 12,000 + 10,000 + 9,000 + 7,000 + 7,000 + 7,000 + 6,000 + 5,000 + 5,000 + 4,000 + 4,000 + 1,000 + 1,000 = 1,095,000

- This Is How We Do: 4,000 + 5,000 + 15,000 + 23,000 + 37,000 + 42,000 + 42,000 + 42,000 + 47,000 + 44,000 = 301,000
Hopefully This Is How We Do can at least match Birthday in sales. It's already easily beaten it in video views.
(*Since these predictions began the week of 09/22/2013, a chunk of Roar's and Dark Horse's sales is missing.)

honestly, everytime I try to get into it I accidentally sing CHOOSE YOUR BATTLES over it.
ican't be the only one that notices that you can literally sing one over the top of the other.

Birthday should already be there with streaming. Since, if I'm correct, the RIAA equates 100 streams with one sale, its US Spotify streams - which are currently at 39,574,374 streams - would equate to about 395,744 sales. Add to that Kworb's sales prediction, and we get 991,744. Add to that the amount of its YouTube views came from the US, and it's definitely reached Platinum. I'm shocked they haven't certified it yet.
They same might be able to be said about This Is How We Do actually. It's US Spotify streams (33,501,612) can be equated to about 335,016 sales. Combined with Kworb's sales predictions, it reaches 636,016. Added with its US YouTube views, it may be at or near Platinum.
