In the U.S that is!!!!!
It is reported that Thriller sold 1M in a wk and Whitney Houston did with the Bodyguard however they wasnt in the 1st wk ... Whitney did 1,038,000
Britney Spears - Opps I Did It Again .... 1,319,000
The highest for a female 14+ yrs later her record is still in tact ... Opps sold 500K in ONE day with no gimmicks, surprise releases or discounts lol
