Orthodox Jewish group puts up posters telling women which side of the road to walk down in Stamford, the UK
An Orthodox Jewish sect in the UK capital London have angered local residents after putting up signs on streets ordering the segregation of men and women.
The signs, that wrote "Women should please walk along this side of the road only," were put up by the local Jewish community for a Torah Procession earlier this week in order to prevent men and women from mixing, The Independent reported.
A London council has removed “unacceptable” posters instructing women which side of the road they should walk down.
It was for a procession which is a religious ritual, so it only applies to their religious group at that time and place. They are not saying women and men should walk on different sides of the road in general so I don't see the problem.
um guys, hate to burst the self righteous bubble here but this was a temporary thing for a torah procession where it is customary to separate men and women for services, like in temple there is a divider. nobody is being oppressed here
this is not some regularly upheld policy these jews have implemented because they are trying to demean the women. reading is essential.
