I never understood this, why do people think Whiteface is hilarious? But Blackface is an insult and degrading?

because in the past black people did not keep whites as slaves, make them 3/4 a person by law, keep voting rights from them, or keep them out of movies by painting their faces white make their lips huge and act stupid or bad to make fun of white people. so please SHUT THE **** UP

They're both pretty much the same except for their target audience. Without bringing history into it, at face-value (ha..ha) it's supposed to be funny..black guy making fun of a white guy and vice-versa.

Double standard. Yeah black people have history of prejudice and there are still many issues today facing them.

I think it has to do with the "power". White people are seen as being in power so it's okay to mock them. If a white person mocks a black person, or if it seems like it, then it's not okay because you're kicking someone when they're down. Which is also bad because it's like saying "Yeah, we know black people are lessor don't make fun of them, but don't get mad if they make fun of us"

It's all just stupid. People need to laugh at each other. Remove the stupid ideals that somebody is a victim and somebody is a oppressor.

When you're putting on blackface, you are dragging a group of people that is STILL being systematically oppressed and is still shamed for the way they look in everyday life.

Whiteface is harmless.
