If Bey was insecure about her body, she wouldn't walk about in public in a bikini like she did 3 weeks ago. Beyoncé has been "bigger" than she is now and she was very slim at the beginning of 2014. If she liked that so much, wouldn't she have stayed that way? I know there's more to this whole "photoshopping thigh gap" business you're all accusing her of when she always had one to begin with.

feminism is a complex issue and no one person is right. emma is obviously more conservative than beyonce, she's spoken before about liking to cover herself up and thats her opinion, why does that make her wrong? I'm sure she was asked about bey and didn't just bring her up.

Seems like Bey's entire album flew over Emma's head. Maybe she has a very narrow minded few of what a feminist looks and sounds like.

For instance.. ***Flawless was ugly. She was pulling faces, being aggressive, jumping in a mosh pit with equally vulgar looking men and women. However, Partition was meant to be a voyeuristic experience. Burlesque is performance art and is meant to be seductive. Bey knows people will criticize her for being sexual, hence the speech at the end. But Bey enjoys being desired, she said as much years ago, people need to deal with that.

White feminists have had an issue with Beyonce calling herself a feminist since Bow Down was released on SoundCloud and they've had it out for her ever since. They lambaste Beyonce and Nicki for sexualizing themselves, while holding Miley Cyrus and Lena Dunham to the highest standards of modern feminism in the same breath. This is absolutely a component of white feminism.

This Beyonce person always seems like a contradictory fraud to me. Madonna was a real feminist, she never intends to please the male eyes, not even in her controversial days. She was projecting herself as a SUBJECT in the context of sexuality. All of her images were aggressive and unseductive. On the other hand, Beyonce was objectifying her body which isn't necessarily a feminist move.

And let me talk about this ***Flawless mess. The original was criticized for degrading to women so she just added that feminist talk to it just to back track and secure her image. She's a very transparent human being and I don't like that.

Emma is the new icon of the white feminists and therefore the mainstream media, could this be the start of a radical change in discourse surrounding Beyonce?

She did. Emma was the interviewer and seemed to only know of the "sex songs" on the album. Tavi, the person who answered Emma's questions, covered all aspects of the album and then Emma responded w/ the quote I posted on page 2.
It was criticized for that but that wasn't the reason behind the song. The song was specifically about haters and nobody else. Sometimes it's best to research than to go w/ the opinion of the "masses"

eh...i don't get why people would get mad at this. it's a perfectly valid interpretation. i don't 100% agree with this but it's not like she said anything offensive or anything.
that said, i don't think beyonce used her sexuality in the way males are known for, although i can kinda see why she thinks so - taking hold of your sexuality isn't an action girls are known for. as much as it's good to be sex positive, society isn't like that right now, so i can see why she'd think it projects off a male vibe.

when has bey ever done anything to please men? just bc bey is objectively more beautiful than madonna?
