Yes. Pretty much. I'm not a stan, and I'll criticize her, and P!nk blows her out of the water in every aspect of music/performing, but at the end of the day she's still the last otherworldly huge musical phenomenon. She was literally the entire music industry at her peak.

Exactly. The fact that she's at her peak and there are still 5+ other pop girls running around having careers and new ones like that Ariana Grande Mocha Frappuccino thingy are able to come into the industry and start having careers is proof of that.

Britney was everything. She was everywhere. She had nothing that even resembled competition. If Beyonce were the new Britney she'd have shut people down. Granted, people like Gaga are thankfully flopping, but not BECAUSE of Beyonce.


The only people who would seriously argue that anyone has reached Britney's level of cultural saturation would be those who were too young to experience prime Britney. Beyonce has been iconic for a while.

Hell just look at your fave she was left behind with only a TV show to keep her afloat. Beyonce never had to resort to that to remain relevant. Britney sat on the Xfactor too and look a how Britney Jean did.

These tactics only work when people actually care and clearly no is here for Xtina and Britney anymore (Vegas shows and all). Call them legends, icons or whatever you like.

I feel like the 1999-2004 era might be considered a different generation at this point which is why I understand some people saying Rihanna. Because if you consider say the past 15 years then if you were conscious of the world in 1999-2004 (even up to 2008 in terms of media attention) then there is no way you could say Rihanna comes remotely close
