I'm don't even stan for Katy, yet I'll willingly admit and testify that Birthday was a moderate hit in the US. A #17 peak and Gold certification is nothing to be ashamed of. Was this mostly based off of radio airplay? Absolutely. But that doesn't mean it didn't do moderately well, in the US at least. (Worldwide is a little bit of a different story, but that can arguably be attributed to a complete lack of promotion and an almost universally disliked video.)
I want them to let This Is How We Do do its thing, but I'm still holding onto hope for Legendary Lovers as the next and final single. (Unless they really wanna push it and release By the Grace of God as the final one after that - I would love that even more.)
