Is the "shade" the "I've been accused" part? If so, it's about herself.
She's saying some say she's influenced singers and others "accuse" her of doing such, meaning they don't like her and her influence is not a good thing; they might say X, Y, and Z oversing like Mariah. Critics have done that to her, her whole career, mostly.

Her first album had some 90s-inspired hip-hop. But I mean, what else is there, really? When was the last time Mariah Carey killed a bunch of Star Wars aliens while jumping around to EDM? People are constantly trying to draw comparisons. Like they actually go looking for them. Ariana was smart to do an EDM song because it differentiates herself from Mariah. She doesn't want to be "the next Mariah Carey" - she wants to be "the first Ariana Grande." But if people go looking for comparisons with microscopes, then of course they'll find them. They're actually so much more different than they are similar.

Has Ariana not always said that Mariah is an influence? Even when she made videos around the age of 13/14, she said Mariah was a big musical influence of hers. Its no secret, so why's everyone acting like its a huge deal? I love Mariah, she just gets so extra when it comes to upcoming artists, not just Ariana either.
