And about Rihanna if her videos are considered iconic it's because the songs, as I said, even SL can get the reference of the leotards and the hand shake, that's what makes a video iconic.

BOMT came out like 17 years ago so many people here weren't even born yet, it was way bigger than SL believe me.

she has 2 though and she has so many other amazing videos that it's hard to pick just one. she honestly has the best videos out of any pop star ever.

A Grammy isn't a receipt for memorability. It is a receipt of quality over other nominations in a given year.

I would agree WFL is perhaps her most iconic due in part to the use of that British style and the fact that the song was so huge, however it's more of a case of the video being attached to the song that makes it widely recognized, but as far as iconic (by definition) it doesn't really represent anything in particular.

Iconic videos are immediately recognizable to a wide variety of people and should represent something, whether be it a time, a style, a place, etc.

Well the problem with that is that it's a very subjective thing.

For example, I know others don't think this, but I feel the brilliant use of simplicity makes Single Ladies one of the greatest pop videos of all time. It needs no set, no costume changes, no effects just three women, a dimmer and a ramp. The rest is completely left to the art of the artist.

So you may think WFL is the greatest but you cannot challenge someone to prove you wrong because only you can.
