It really is an honour and huge career point for her to be asked to perform on PBS "Great Performances" special. Going from an eccentric pop star that many believe she hides her lack of talent behind her antics and outfits to singing straight jazz with a jazz legend in front of millions with just her voice being the "gimmick" that will surprise or move people. And this is just six years into her career. I really can't think of another POP star / performer that has be given the opportunity to perform on there. Even Madonna hasn't as far as I know. The amount of respect she'll receive and has already received from the older demographic (look at CBS FB comments after their interview, the fact they are separating Gaga from her other pop contemporaries or "MTV vaporware" one guy said and understanding her talent status above them, etc...)

CTC is an IMPORTANT album. We've seen Gaga reaping the benefits personally during the process after being so upset end of 2013 and looking to the future, but it will do a lot for her professionally other than success and peaks.

For the record, last years PBS special received 30M viewers worldwide. The fact a morning interview pushed CTC inside top 3 in pre-orders, a special on that scale with multiple performances will do wonders for the album late October. And it's an album that reacts to promotion, unlike in pop, performances / promotion genuinely push the singles more than the albums.
