I mean the way I could tell it was 2009 and 2010 was by them referencing Gaga, and I'm sure that is the intention by these very pinnacle moments, the election of Obama etc. Their is small things like this throughout.
Whilst the sister is having a semi-argument with her mum Love Game plays in the background, the sister and her friend are listening to it on their iPod. And soon after the sister and the fathers new wife (This is hard to explain) are watching the Telephone music video, the new wife seems to be loving it and kind've in shock as we all were at the time, she asks the daughter if her mother allows her to watch this, and she says, yes and her mum loves it to. They then go onto to talk about how they could get Gaga tickets because she is coming to Houston in the fall or spring, I don't remember. It's a really great film, and this was a nice edition. I recommend seeing it, I had to google half way through watching the film because I didn't understand how the kids were growing, I thought they were going to be played by different people, so I was confused. It was really a creative idea, and quite smart. I don't know if it's been done before, but just the idea behind it all, and thinking they came together every so often over a 12 year spand to create one film, which they had no idea what the impact of this film would be, or when it was going to come out, or if it was even going to be good, but they were all so dedicated, and I thought it was really great. It wasn't overly compelling for a almost 3 hour film, but it still keeps you watching because it's quite relatable, and it's kind've the times where I personally began to pay attention to the world, and the things around me.

Yeah, I loved that this film utilized moments in pop culture brilliantly to really display what was going on at the time. It brought so many memories back for me. This was a beautiful film, and it deserves to win many awards.
