I don't get why people conflate promo and success. You promote something over and over but that doesn't mean it's going to do anything. We've seen numerous examples of this over the past year, such as GUY, Birthday, This Is How We Do, and Unconditionally. It's all about the music connecting with the public, not managers and promo (though promo CAN help, but doesn't always).

No, he was her chief marketing officer.
And you're right for once, a manager and/or promo cannot "revive" a popstar, it's all about the music.

Germanotta fans all talk about her not having enough promo for Artpop, yet no other pop girl hosted SNL, had a Muppets TV special, special album concert launch (artrave), partnered her album with a big corporate chain like H&M, and had her singles licensed for Beats and Kia commercials... along with the standard tv performances/interviews and award show performances other pop girls do.
For supposedly bad management, there was a lot being done by people to support her.
Which other pop girl had all that behind her pushing their music?

Katy had her songs in Cover Girl commercials, teamed up with Walmart, had concerts at the Rose Bowl and in Canada, had a PEPSI deal with the VMAs, was on SNL...
You tried, though. Your obsession with Gaga is keeping you from seeing what the other girls are doing.
