The worst season sadly. It started of great though.

No, I loved every minute of it. It's very enjoyable and had likable characters. The dialog between the characters was also excellent and well written. Not every season has to be so dark and depressing.

Nope, it really gave the show a huge boost

Coven was horrific, and the absolute definition of "mess." Terrible, unlikable characters, shoehorned plot points, dropped story arcs, and general camp all topped off by a predictable, unsatisfying ending. The fact that characters were constantly brought back to life took all of the suspense out of it for me. Taissa, Evan, and Sarah's characters were HORRID. Misty Day was horrid. Stevie Nicks was so unnecessary. Emma was the only reason I kept watching. Let me stop now.

Meanwhile, Asylum was amazing (bar the aliens) and Murder House was straight up perfection. So I'm still mad hyped for Freak Show (especially since Ryan said in an interview that once a character dies, they stay dead this season).

Coven is an artless and thrill-less saga which features some of the most one-dimensional characters in Mr. Murphy's entire oeuvre (and that's saying quite a bit considering this is the man who gave us Glee).

I want to hold out hope for Freakshow, but Murphy has a notable track-record of running promising series into the ground and exhausting his creative genius in early seasons. Though, with this being an anthology, one hopes Coven was just an isolated misfire and that he'll be able to find better footing for the next go-around.
