No, movies spend so much on marketing and promo. Example, Avatar was made on a 250m budget. 150m of it was used for marketing.
Plus, people have plans throughout the day. It's not like they're going to ditch their friends or their traveling plans to watch a film last minute. Albums, however, they can easily just purchase it on their phones, download it on their computer, etc. Movies you physically have to run outside to go watch.
People have plans and schedules so I dont think it would work. With an album you can just buy it but if it were a movie you'd have to plan the visit, invite friends etc. It would be messy.
That being said could you imagine the mass hysteria? all the gurls would be running to their nearest movie theater, skipping work and losing friends over the last remaining seat. I'm here for that

I could only see it working if it was for a big franchise and not even as a true-blue Beyoncé, something more like they reveal the movie is coming to cinemas the very next week.
No unless they make sure everyone keeps it under wraps and it's hard to do so with the big movies that possibly could accomplish it. You can't shut up the extras, the people in production, the agents assistants, the interns in the editing room and such. Something about it is bound to leak.
Plus people won't leave their house unless it's offered in the movie theaters and online at the same time and it has to be a HUGE series.
Maybe Pirates of The Caribbean 5 could do so if they leak an anticipated date and just drop it ahead of time. Even if it we know about it 1 week ahead of time it would still have the same BEYONCE effect. We know Johnny is working on it but have a distant release date. It would take a studio like Disney and a star like Johnny to make it happen.
