Will American children show ever show homosexual relationships?
I've been watching Japanese anime the past couple of days (and I mean the actual Japanese version, not the English dub) and in the Japanese version, which aired in the 90s, they showed homosexual relationships very casual. It seems that Japan, starting from more than two decades ago, were very open to homosexual topic in children's media and they seem to tolerate it more than American audience. American audience only started seeing homosexual couples in their television screen maybe a few years ago. The only time I remember gay characters on my television screen was when it was needed to add controversy or comedy.
Examples:
Cardcaptors

Tori and Julian have a thing for each other. In the English dub, they're just really close friends.

Li Syaoran has a crush on Julian. In the English dub, his 'crush' emotions are shown as embarrassment.

Madison in the original series has a crush on Sakura. In the English dub, they're just really close friends.
Sailormoon

Sailor Neptune & Uranus are a couple. In the English dub, they are cousins.

Kunzite and Zoisite are a gay couple. In the English dub, Zoisite is a female.
