I had chronic ulcers for 6 years. I couldn't do anything - eat, proper sleep, being sat too much, travel (even a 10 minute car trip made me sick) - so yes, not all ulcers debilitate you, but if it hurts, I swear to you you feel like you can't do anything at all.
