Celeb News: The truth behind Titanium (Katy/Mary J)

A music industry insider said, "So that Titanium song, Sia wrote it for Katy, but (Katy) didn't want to do a song with Guetta."
So the song was passed along to legendary singer Mary J Blige.
The insider added, "They sent it to Mary J. Blige who apparently butchered it, so they sent it back."
So there was only one option. Sia herself stepped in to record the vocals, and the rest is history.

However, yesterday during the Swedish idol ex A&R manager at Sony Music, Daniel Breitholtz (previously working with Whitney Houston, Westlife, Outkast and Toni Braxton who have also written music for Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Westlife and Christina Aguilera among others) said something else:

"Titanium was send to Katy Perry out of all artists. She accepted the song then realized it was too hard for her to sing, so she didn't want it. They then send it to Mary J Blige, but the label and the management didn't like it. It's a hard song to sing"

I mean, Sia did say that she wrote it for Alicia Keys to sing, and it ended up going to Mary J Blige, and they ended up just using Sia's demo vocals.

The other version of the story claimed that Katy rejected the track because she didn't want to release another empowerment anthem so soon after Firework. She then advised Guetta to keep Sia on the track which turned out to be the decision that benefited everyone in the process, especially Sia whose career was revived after the song became a massive hit.

In Sia's Howard Stern interview she said she had no idea her vocals would be on the song until the song was literally released. She said they used her demo vocals and she was mortified because she thought it would hurt her image.

I think this is wrong. Guetta had a version with Sia. But she didn't like it that much. She called Katy and offered her a collab. Katy listened to the Sia's version and told Guetta to keep the Sia's version. David listened to her and the rest is history.
