It doesn't look that close to the edge. Plus, there's someone next to the baby that if s/he did crawl towards the tip of the edge, all she would have to do is extend their arm and grab the baby.
The baby would not have fallen 1,982 feet, it's not straight down all the way what kind of sensationalizing? I checked it out and the tot would have fallen at most about 960 feet.

They weren't really putting the baby in any type of situation. It just looks like they placed her down a safe distance from the edge, stepped back to let the photographer snap a picture and then went right back to the baby. It's not like they literally placed her on the edge and let her carelessly crawl about while they ate lunch.
Don't spread ignorance, just the other day I saw threads about a Mexican mom who blinded her son and Africans who sell children's body parts for rituals. Stupid behaviour is not specific to white people. Educate yourself.
