Basically it means Sony ATV will be managing the rights and royalties to all the music she writes.
So for example, if you want to use a Fancy cover in a TV commercial for soap, you'd call up Sony ATV and pay them for permission. They then give Iggy money from it, as a songwriter.
Also it means that if Iggy writes more music than she ends up using, Sony ATV can sell those songs on to other record labels besides Virgin-EMI.
It increases her exposure as a songwriter.
