I actually created a nominations thread which had already been posted (OPPS) but then I was directed to the thread that was created (which was formatted much better than mine was, well done) and I read through the comments and what surprised me was the amount of upset people. In this case it was a lot of lady gaga fans as she was totally snubbed but in previous years it has been someone else's fave.
Allow me to explain for those that don't yet know.
In 2003 the MTV awards across the board moved over to fan voting. The nominations are based on fan votes as are the winners. (with the exception of "technical awards)
Here's an article on the voting system which focuses on the MTV VMA's http://www.bustle.com/#/articles/361...ious-strangers
This means that the most popular people of that year are going to be nominated.
MTV actually recognised this was not a legitimate way to hand out awards when they changed the MTV movie awards back to Academy voting to restore credibility.
So, to those that are upset (which I completly understand) you have two options.
1. Do nothing, stop being upset and let those people who's faves are popular celebrate their nominations.
2. Complain to MTV (they might listen and change if enough people complain, like the MTV movie awards) However, if you do this you must also acknowledge that there were artists that won MTV awards before 2003, you must acknowledge that those artists won those awards based on the quality of their work and not the star that was "in" at the time.
