They've become a bunch of sell-out, opportunistic old fogies. Force feeding their music to people just for the sake of "making history" and trying so hard to appeal to the newer generation and failing.

Yeah but people deserved the option of deciding whether they wanted to download it, free or not. Not everyone is a U2 fan... clearly. I feel like if they had put it on the new iPhone 6s alone w/ a heads up, it wouldn't have been that bad. It'd be kind of like when you buy a new laptop and all of those old classical songs are in the Music folder.

Eh, they are a business. The customers don't really owe them any gratitude. This isn't one friend giving a gift to another. Everything is a strategy, and consumers will be paying more then necessary for every purchased product regardless.
