That's why artists like Beyonce and Lady Gaga (when she was successful) lie(d) about writing their own songs. Also Katy. Her 3D movie was all about how she's a totally self-made artist who writes all her own hits.

Because today people want to make themselves out to be more talented than what they really are. It was never that big of a deal until recent history when most stars are untalented or only semi-talented. Everyone must be a "triple-threat" of some sort.
But writing your own stuff in Hip Hop has always been a thing.
I can easily write a song as "good" as a nicki minaj song let's say.
