I wouldn't put this squarely on Beyoncé's impact though. The original reference is quite iconic, but referencing the same thing as one of your contemporaries is a bit odd.

I also found it weird that the Freemasons (who were closely linked to Beyoncé for a while) referenced Sweet Charity shortly after Beyoncé also did it.

I can't believe that you guys can't see what I see. She's the best performer ever. She has it all, the style, beaty, evergy EVERYTHING.

I really think JLo is the most underrated artist ever

I do think that J.Lo is in the top 5 for performers of her generation. Her energy, verve and dance ability really sets her apart from even the younger yet seasoned superstars. With that in mind, what prevents her from being at the top of the list is her singing. It often is the least interesting part of the performance. For me, a true powerhouse performer could stand on the stage with nothing else and bring down the roof with their voice. If you guys have an example of this I'm willing to watch.

Also I think her style is cute but hardly a bonus. Someone like Rihanna has style. It's fashion with a capital F, not Cosmopolitan-syle fashion.

I'm not a JLo stan but she really does have it all for a pop singer. She was really popular in her JLo days, it's just now that she seems to be less appreciated. I blame ageism in the industry.

I appreciate you posting that but that is not a good example of a singer bringing down the house with her vocals. It is not even 100% live vocals and it is not even powerful vocals when they do happen. J.Lo was either singing along with her backup singers or she was letting them sing for her when not letting the audience sing. Add to this the fact that the song is not very difficult to sing and compare this to a Whitney, Mariah, Beyoncé, Aretha, Gaga, or even Rihanna performance and you can hear and see the difference in the abilities to perform a song without the theatrics.

As far as fashion, that is of course, very subjective. And J.Lo is a fashion icon, but that doesn't mean she is very fashionable anymore. The fact that her guitarist was next to her wearing a fedora in that video is the first give-away, and if we look at her costume for Fashion Rocks, the material look cheap and it's not very fashion-forward, even if it is meant to reference an era. We all have different ideas of fashion though. As I said, J.Lo's outfits are far more like the fashion in magazines like Elle or Cosmopolitan, instead of fashion-forward ones like LOVE, or I-D.
