Race riots, white flight, businesses closed, city ran out of money in the 80's and couldn't even afford to pick up the trash.

The population dropped 70% in the last 60 years. It used to be the 4th largest city in Illinois.
Murder rate 101.9 out of 100,000 people. National average is 5.6.
Rape rate 251.3 out of 100,000 people. National average is 32.2.

In other words, if you live in East St. Louis and you have 5 friends of either gender, one of them will be raped at some point in their lives statistically. Good lord.

This lady builds a dummy to represent every person who dies in the village. The lady who builds the dolls always places them at night. She has a niece that watches after her who claims she doesn't leave the house at night and it can't be her placing the dolls.

She builds dolls all day and puts a lot of time into them but nobody has ever seen her move one. Some people swear she starts building the dolls for people before they actually pass.
