Little Miss Obsessive is really underrated

Ain't that the truth Sama. Everybody was raving about Bittersweet World and its first single Outta My Head, yet few remember the 2nd single Little Miss Obsessive.

OK so artists wow us with their beauties, but sometimes they also disappoint us. Here's my list of 10 Most Underrated and 10 Most Overrated. Remember, I'm not critical in any way with these so please don't take offense to this.

MOST UNDERRATED

10. Britney Spears
I know you're thinking, huh Mike? Why is she here? Well let's be realistic, I don't think a lot of people who don't follow music seriously thought much about her this year. If you ask your average person who doesn't listen to music, they'd be like 'Britney who?' You know that a lot of people who do follow music think like 'Britney may be one of the best singers of the current generation' and that's true. But I wanna say that in a world where hip-hop dominates and Lil Wayne & T-Pain tend to sell so much because of one or two singles, don't forget Britney! Some silly people will pass her up for Beyonce or Christina, but for my money, I want Britney in the foxhole along with Christina too. Don't let her rough times in the past make you think she's done, she's far from finished.


9. Kellie Pickler
We forget that on American Idol there was another singer on the show looking to make a name for herself. Her name is Kellie Pickler. She has the looks and still has a lot of spunk. So she didn't win, big deal. She's gonna be one of the artists to watch I think in 2009.


8. Lady GaGa
We really only got to know her a lot through the latter part of the year. There's more to this girl than Just Dance. She's got other tunes from The Fame that people will probably be checking out in the future, and obviously they need to buy her CD so she doesn't become a 1-hit wonder.


7. Miranda Cosgrove
You know what they say right? Youth has the edge lately in music. Is that true? Well, Miranda thinks so. From Drake & Josh, to ICarly, to an upcoming debut CD in 2009. This girl has the wow factor and has what it takes to do well in the music industry. Don't think for a second that she's gonna be bad because she was on a Nick show, she's very good.


6. Amy Studt
OK, clearly underrated! Her album My Paper Made Men came out in 2008 and spawned Furniture and the massive MWC hit Chasing The Light which we'll see later on in the Endchart. But make no mistake, people forget that she had a hit in 2002 with Just A Little Girl. 6 years later, she came back strong with her efforts. If you haven't heard her recently, do yourself a favor and check her out!


5. Lesley Roy
Lesley came from Ireland to give the Music industry a try and she wowed us with I'm Gone, I'm Going. This 22-year old is currently trying to score a hit with Unbeautiful and I think she's better than some of the singers that were out in 2008 (I won't name names though) and she has the wow factor too. Keep an eye on her in 2009!


4. Eiza 'Lola' Gonzalez
Who? LOL. That's what you would ask yourself here. Her song Si Me Besas is from the show Lola, Erase Un Vez. The song was catchy and enjoyable (it made the Dance top 20 on my list) with vocals to make you wanna get your groove on. She's the only Latin singer on the list.


3. Britt Nicole
Britt Nicole, two words, SAY IT! Say It is her debut CD and this songbird gave us the rocking video Believe which torched to a top 10 showing on the CCM CHR charts. I will have my eyes on her in 2009 for sure, she is totally underrated.


2. Natalie Grant
Some would say she's one of the best Christian female singers in the world, Natalie won't openly say it though. She's had a few albums and this 36-year old returned with a bang with Relentless featuring In Better Hands, Make It Matter and the massive MWC favorite I Will Not Be Moved. Truly a gifted girl, one of the best singers in 2008 and way underrated.


1. Belinda
Belinda, it's all you need to know. That one word says it all. BELINDA! God's angel. Awesome talent. She had a year to remember in just her 2nd year of me finding out about her music and well, she picked a great time to get major buzz. She had See A Little Light, If Were, End Of The Day, Alguien Mas AND Your Hero all go top 5 which is very impressive for a teenage singer. Now with 2009 on the horizon, she will definitely be one to watch and is IMO the most Underrated Singer of 2008.

Here's a reason why she's so great. Her song Your Hero ft. Finley is coming up but first, here's If We Were.

Now it's time for my Most Overrated Artists of 2008. Again, some of these I like so make sure you know what to say first before deciding, got it? We were planning Beyonce to perform, but then she had a plan and decided to wait her turn because she wanted to show us BC Jean. Here's BC doing If I Were A Boy.



Such a beauty BC is. OK, now to the Most Overrated.

10. Adele - To be perfectly honest, I shouldn't put her here...but I was disappointed with the song and I don't see the buzz about her that much....and she's #10 by default
9. 50 Cent - Is he still relevant? LOL
8. Pussycat Dolls - Uh, nothing against them. Everybody was wowed by their 2nd CD plans, but the songs and sales haven't gone their way.
7. Rihanna - Again, nothing against her and I love her, it's just that it is a hot and cold effect with her in 2008. Some highs, some lows.
6. T.I. - Again, nothing personal....it's just I don't understand the buzz around him.
5. Usher - Well, I can't say 2008 is one he'll remember.
4. T-Pain - Gah! I've never liked this singer since that I'm In Love With A Dancer song came out.
3. Lil Wayne - Not #1? Well, thanks to Kevin Rudolf that is. Weezy's had a monster year, but yet I'm just bored of him.
2. Madonna - Again, got nothing against her. I thought her Hard Candy era was her most disappointing yet. I know Mazen's gonna chew at me for this but it's how I honestly feel. Madonna let me down in 2008.
1. Beyonce - Sorry guys, I really think she's the Most Overrated singer of 2008, I can't lie. I think her version of If I Were A Boy is mediocre at best and Single Ladies I find atrocious.

Well I hope you understand....but I will make it up to you Beyonce fans because you're in for a treat. She is actually performing after all. Rather than have her perform her current hit, she decided to make it up to the IDRL/MWC fans and perform her song with Sugarland.

90. Kendra Morris "Again" (Kendra Morris) USA [1,504 pts] Peak:#7 <#94 on MWC> (50,590) [Airplay:#90]
The 2nd of 4 from the Redemption Song girls who had a big month or so. Kendra flew from 91-11 in just her 2nd show and since then has spent 4 shows in the top 10 with 6 overall. The reception she got was incredibly high and is becoming a #1 contender. 2009 may be hers for the taking.


89. Angelica Rose "Use Me" (Angelica Rose) USA [1,527 pts] Peak:#5 <#92 on MWC> (50,593) [Airplay:#89]
When one door opens, another closes and so forth. Angelica likewise with Kendra jumped big from 92-12 in just her 2nd show and has since gone up to #5 with 6 shows logged on. She's the third from Redemption Song to make the cut. Like Kendra, she may be able to dominate 2009 if her competition isn't too strong.


88. Jazmin Conte & Adam Binder "Tourmaline" (Jazmin Conte & Adam Binder) USA [1,521 pts] Peak:#5 <#93 on MWC> (50,604) [Airplay:#88]
Jazmin Conte is the 4th from Redemption Song to make the cut. She teams with Adam Binder on the 5 minute track entitled Tourmaline. She may be 21 but she could be a power player in the future after spending 6 shows on and getting as high as #5, and likewise had a massive jump from 90-15 in her 2nd show. Even though I like her, I can't make it #1 since it spent too few shows on the countdown to contend in 2008, but 2009 expects to be a big year for this Jersey girl.


87. Shiny Toy Guns "Don't Cry Out" (We Are Pilots) USA [2,827 pts] Peak:#14 <#56 on MWC> (51,102) [Airplay:#87] <Scored 8,120 total points, #2>
87 shows on including 40 this year, that's what Chad, Carah and crew did in 2008 as they make their first of 3 songs on the Endchart. Last year they were #24 with this song and now they end up #87 for 2008. This hit #14 in 2008 compared to #2 in 2007 but the band has enjoyed a ravaging success of 4 top 3 hits including 3 from We Are Pilots. They did all they could do with this song with vocals from the now former member Carah.


86. Paramore "Crushcrushcrush" (Riot!) USA [2,122 pts] Peak:#3 <#82 on MWC> (51,942) [Airplay:#86] <Scored 5,773 total points, 7@1>
They nabbed 57 shows on with this song including 27 in 2008. Hayley and company make their first of 2 appearances in 2008's Endchart but the first is from last year's #15 song which is Crushcrushcrush. While Decode may be getting red-hot, this song here helped fuel the fire and remains a hot song that nabbed 7@1 in 2007. The video was smooth and very hot, literally.


85. Guest "Final Straw" (Final Straw) USA [2,827 pts] Peak:#14 <#57 on MWC> (53,105) [Airplay:#85]
Brittany & Brandon Hargest are NOT like The Ting Tings in any way so stop that thought. OK, stop me if you've heard this before....the Hargests make a mad push in Airplay but get upended. TRUE! This song got to #14 on the countdown and maxed out an impressive 51 show run that spanned 6 months, pretty impressive for their first song post-Jump 5. It's good enough to log the #85 song of the year.


84. The Spill Canvas "All Over You" (No Really, I'm Fine) USA [1,675 pts] Peak:#5 <#89 on MWC> (54,177) [Airplay:#84]
Actually when you think about it, this song exceeded the expectations they faced after a monster #21 debut on the first chart of the year. This song zoomed its way to #5 and spent 29 shows on the list before running out of steam in May. They did a decent job with this, but it looks like their song Saved isn't doing well and is only up 159-157 after being on the radar for 3 months which means this could be their only big song before 2009 or even 2010.


83. Hey Monday "Homecoming" (Hold On Tight) USA [1,775 pts] Peak:3@1 <#85 on MWC> (54,992) [Airplay:#81]
The 2nd of the 35 #1 songs for 2008. This song's run has been 1-2-1-1-3-4 in the 6 shows it's been on for. Cassadee and crew might've picked an AWFUL time to explode when the year was winding down, but this clearly will be one of the favorites in 2009.


82. Elise Estrada "Unlove You" (Unlove You) Canada [1,456 pts] Peak:#2 <#95 on MWC> (55,017) [Airplay:#83]
This sassy Canadian songstress made her mark with a somewhat impressive 27 show run that included a #2 stint, but Delta Goodrem and Sara Bareilles found ways to hold off the feisty Elise and sent her flying off in early May. Still not bad for her though and with Crash And Burn up 184-103, expect Elise's new song to debut next MWC season.


81. Ednita Nazario Featuring Natalie Jimenez "No" (Real) Puerto Rico/Mexico [2,149 pts] Peak:#2 <#81 on MWC> (55,792) [Airplay:#82]
Don't let the 21 shows make you think this disappointed, it didn't. You won't believe this, but this is from her 24th album Real. 24TH! That's unreal. This 54-year old singer from Puerto Rico is by far the oldest singer on the chart in 2008 and her song No Feat. Natalie Jimenez shocked many by flying all the way to #2 but couldn't break Natalie Grant's streak at #1 which ultimately paved way for Natalie who is a modest 36 years old, to make history. (more on that later)
