She has consistently remained in the R&B world, even if she does use other genres from time to time. Then there is the continuity of feminist anthems consistently present from Destiny's Child to BEYONCÉ. Rihanna has neither a sonic sound nor a thematic lyrical identity yet.

Lastly, I agree with your last point. For example, Frank Sinatra did not write his signature hits and so he does owe a lot to those who wrote them, but because they all were more or less in the same style, he himself has created a musical identity for himself, which is the point I was making, not that one is deemed any less for having a lesser involvement, which I agree would have been a lame argument if I were making it.

Disagree with that statement. Since the beginning Rihanna being from the Caribbean was always a part of her "marketing" so the island sound is present in all of Rihanna albums. It may not be as prominent as it was on her first two albums but unlike other artists a reggae track is guaranteed on a Rihanna album.
